About FAME

The FAME Story
Founded in 1996, FAME is a nonprofit organization that has successfully advocated for the return of instrumental and choral music programs to public schools in the San Dieguito area of North Coastal San Diego County, California, from La Costa to Carmel Valley. FAME raises funds through donations and grants to help sustain quality music education programs in these school districts:

Real Results
Since its inception, FAME has received and distributed over $250,000 directly to the schools for their music programs. This funding has supplied essential instruments, music stands, scores and professional coaching.

In 1998, only one school out of 27 in the North Coastal San Diego County area offered instrumental music. Today, all eight of the middle schools and high schools in the San Dieguito Union High School District offer instrumental music. In addition, six elementary schools in the Cardiff, Del Mar, and Rancho Santa Fe school districts now have thriving programs.

With your generous donations, FAME will continue to support the music programs now in place at the middle and high schools. Through the efforts of FAME, elementary schools in Rancho Santa Fe and Del Mar now offer instrumental music programs and Cardiff's program has grown. Because experts agree that elementary school is the best time to begin children on musical instruments, FAME is committed to expanding these programs so that children in La Costa, Encinitas and Solana Beach also have this wonderful opportunity.
